Are Alanya Boat Trips Safe?

For most people, yes — the Alanya coast is sheltered by the castle headland and the boats run a short, familiar route in calm summer water. But we will not give you a blanket safety guarantee, because we cannot verify one. What we can do is tell you exactly what each boat's own record says, what the sea actually does here, and who should think twice before booking.

What each boat's record says

Every product page on this site carries a safety section built from that boat's own operational record, and it differs between boats because the records differ. The pirate galleon lists maritime insurance and life jackets; the Starcraft lists passenger insurance; the night boat lists mandatory boat insurance; the private yacht lists full boat insurance and on-board safety equipment.

Two boats — the sunset cruise and the Suluada day — list neither insurance nor safety equipment. Rather than copy a neighbour's line onto their pages, we say so and invite you to ask. That is the difference between a safety section and a safety decoration.

What the sea here actually does

Alanya sits behind a limestone headland that blocks the prevailing swell, so the water inside the bay is usually calm through the season. An afternoon breeze can still put a chop on it, particularly on the open stretch west of the caves.

If you are prone to seasickness, take something before you board rather than after. The boats sail in light rain; only severe weather cancels a departure, and if it does you pay nothing because you pay on the day.

Who should think twice

Anyone with serious mobility limitations. None of these boats is step-free, you board from the quay, and there are stairs between decks — the Starcraft record says outright that it is not recommended for guests with serious mobility limitations.

Anyone who needs a short day. The Starcraft and Manavgat days are nine hours and the Suluada trip is a full day with a long road transfer. If that is too much, take the sunset cruise or the pirate galleon instead.

The claims we will not make

We do not publish a star rating for these boats, because we hold no verified reviews for them. A rating you cannot trace is worth nothing.

We do not claim crew certifications, vessel inspections or safety standards that we cannot point at in a record. If a page tells you something about safety, it is either quoting the operational record or telling you the record is silent.

What to tell us before you sail

If someone in your party cannot swim, is pregnant, has a heart or back condition, or takes medication that matters across a long day, tell us when you book. It changes nothing about the price or the booking — it simply means the crew knows.

Children stay with the adults they came with. There is no supervised area and no childminding on any of these boats.

Questions

Frequently asked

Are boat trips in Alanya safe?
For most people, yes: the coast is sheltered by the castle headland and the route is short and familiar. We will not offer a blanket guarantee, though. Each boat's page quotes its own operational record on insurance and equipment, and two of the six record neither — we say so on those pages.
Do Alanya boat trips have life jackets?
The pirate galleon's record explicitly lists maritime insurance and life jackets, and its conditions say non-swimmers are welcome with life jackets available on request. Other boats record insurance without naming equipment. Where a record is silent we do not claim otherwise — ask us and we will confirm before you book.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The boats sail in light rain and only severe weather cancels a departure. If a trip is cancelled you pay nothing, because payment is taken on the day you sail. You can also cancel free yourself up to 24 hours before.
Can I go on an Alanya boat trip if I cannot swim?
Yes. Nobody has to enter the water and the deck is available for the whole trip. Tell us in advance so the crew knows, and read the safety section on the specific boat's page rather than relying on a general statement.
Are the boats wheelchair accessible?
None of them is recorded as step-free. You board from the quay in Alanya harbour and there are stairs between decks. If walking a gangway and a few steps is difficult, contact us before booking and we will tell you honestly whether the day will work.
