Chartering a Yacht in Alanya for a Proposal

A proposal on the water in Alanya comes down to one decision: whether you want the boat to yourselves. The private yacht takes up to 12 guests for six hours, and it is priced for the boat and the date rather than per head, which is why you ask for a quote instead of reading a number off a page.

What follows is what that charter actually carries, what has to be settled before the day, and the things we will not promise you.

What you are actually booking

Twelve places, six hours, one party. You do not have to fill them: two people on a twelve-guest boat is a perfectly ordinary booking, and so is bringing both families. There is no child price on a charter, because the quote is written for the boat and the date rather than assembled out of seats. Send us the real number of guests anyway, since the crew plans around who is actually coming.

Payment is taken on the day you sail, never in advance, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before. If the evening light matters to you, plan around sunset and say so when you enquire.

What the charter includes

• Captain and crew, fuel and mooring fees
• Hotel transfer along the strip we cover: Okurcalar, Avsallar, Incekum, Turkler, Konakli, Alanya centre, Oba, Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kargicak, over 40 km end to end. From either far end it is a long road leg in both directions, so build that into the shape of the day.
• Snorkelling masks, a freshwater shower and the on-board safety equipment

Food and drink are not standard. They are not part of the charter as it stands. Catering and drinks can be arranged in advance if you ask for them at the enquiry stage, and that is the only moment to ask: not on the morning you sail.

What we will not promise

Our record for this boat lists the crew, the masks, the freshwater shower, the fuel, the mooring fees, the safety equipment and the hotel transfer. It does not list decorations, a photographer, music, or holding the yacht still at a spot you have picked out in advance. If you want the boat stopped somewhere particular while you ask the question, ask when you enquire and we will tell you whether it is possible on the day. We would rather give you that answer than type "of course" and leave the captain to make it true.

Flowers, a ring box, a friend with a camera: arrange those yourself and tell us they are coming, so the crew knows what is arriving at the quay and nobody is improvising.

The coast you will see

Boats leave Alanya harbour under Kizil Kule, the brick Red Tower that has stood there since 1226, and turn west beneath the castle headland. You pass three caves from the water: Pirates' Cave, the Lovers' Grotto and the Phosphorus Cave. Pass is the word. Boats do not sail inside them, whatever you may have seen elsewhere. Cleopatra Beach is on the same western stretch and it is passed as well, not landed on. Swimming is done in sheltered coves below the cliffs, which is what the masks and the freshwater shower are there for.

Weather, and what happens if it turns

The boats sail in light rain. Only severe weather stops a departure. Because payment is taken on the day, a cancelled trip costs you nothing: you will need your own fallback for the evening, but you will not be out of pocket for the boat. Worth knowing if the whole evening is built around one moment.

Before you send the enquiry

• No boat here is step-free. You board from the quay and there are stairs between decks. If that is difficult for anyone in your party, tell us before you book.
• Twelve is the ceiling, not a target.
• The price comes by quote only, for the boat and for your date.

If chartering is more than you want to spend on one evening, the sunset boat tour is €35 for an adult and €25 for a child aged four to eleven, with children of three and under free, four hours, daily, no meal and no drinks package: the same coast, with other people aboard. If it is the yacht you want, send the date, the number of guests and a sentence about what you have in mind, and you will get a price back along with a straight answer on what can be arranged in advance.
