Where a Private Yacht Can Actually Go From Alanya

A private yacht from Alanya follows the same coast as every other boat in the harbour. You leave under the castle headland and turn west — past Pirates' Cave, the Lovers' Grotto and the Phosphorus Cave, along the cliffs, into the sheltered coves where the swimming is. Chartering does not unlock a different shoreline. It changes who talks about the pace along this one.

We put that first so nobody books six hours expecting a coast nobody else sees.

The line west out of Alanya harbour

Boats leave under Kızıl Kule — the Red Tower, brick, standing since 1226 — and turn west under the castle headland. The three caves sit on that stretch of cliff. The big day boats pass them from the water; they do not sail inside, and a yacht does not change that. Cleopatra Beach is on the same western run, and the boats pass it rather than land on it. Swim stops are in sheltered coves below the cliffs; several are usable, and which one suits depends on the day and the state of the water.

Up to 12 guests, six hours on the water. Meals and drinks are not standard. They can be arranged in advance, which means in advance and not on the quay. The yacht is quoted rather than listed, because the date and whatever is being arranged decide the figure.

What we will not promise before you ask

Charter writing tends to promise a day that bends to the guest. Ours will not, because the shape of the day belongs to the captain on the date, and to the wind, the swell and the traffic in the harbour. Whether the boat can sit still off a cave mouth, whether a swim stop can run long, whether the order of the day can be turned around — ask when you enquire and we will tell you whether it is possible on your date. Music, decoration and on-board photography are not part of the charter at all. If the evening light matters to you, plan around sunset and say so at the enquiry rather than on the morning.

Three days this yacht cannot give you

Suluada is the request we turn down most often. It is an uninhabited island off Adrasan, roughly 200 km west of Alanya, reached by a long road transfer as a full day (EUR 43 adult, EUR 30 child aged 4–11, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays only). Six hours on the water from Alanya does not get there.

Manavgat and Green Canyon are not sea days at all. They are inland, on the fresh water of the Oymapınar reservoir — cold water straight off mountain springs, and no swell whatever. You reach them by road, not by sailing west (Green Canyon EUR 33 / EUR 20, nine hours, daily, buffet lunch; Manavgat with the bazaar EUR 43 / EUR 30, Mondays and Thursdays only, buffet lunch).

Weather, payment, and what a cancelled day costs

The boats sail in light rain. Only severe weather stops a departure. Payment is taken on the day you sail, never in advance, so a cancelled departure costs you nothing at all. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

Settle these before the day

How many of you there are — twelve is the ceiling. Whether food and drink are being arranged. Which pickup point on the strip you are using: from either end of it the road is noticeably longer than from the centre. And whether everyone in the party can manage stairs, because no boat here is step-free — you board from the quay and move between decks by stairs. On our scheduled boats children aged 4 to 11 pay the child fare and children up to and including three years old travel free.

Charter when the pace is the point: a small group, children who need longer in the water, a day that answers to you rather than to a timetable. If it is the coast itself you are after, the pirate boat runs the same western line for EUR 20 per adult and EUR 14 per child aged 4–11, seven hours, daily, lunch included — and we would rather tell you that than sell you a yacht you do not need.
